The following is older news related to Gmail filesystem releases.

Released version 0.5 of Gmail Filesystem.WARNING: Unfortunately due to a number of changes in the Gmail interface this version is not compatible with previous versions, and you will need to start a new filesystem.
Version 0.5 has changes required for compatibility with the most recent versions of libgmail and FUSE.

Removed the note on changes required to libgmail as the latest CVS version has integrated these changes. An unrelated change in the Gmail interface has been causing symlinks and hardlinks to fail. These appear be less used features, so I'll put off an update until something more crucial breaks.

Released version 0.4. Updated Gmail Filesystem to deal with recent changes in the Gmail interface. Also integrated changes from the Debian maintainer, Sebastien Delafond who has provided several bug fixes and updated the code to run with the latest 2.x versions of Fuse (in fact Gmail Filesystem now requires Fuse 2.x).

The author of libgmail has updated the library to deal with recent changes in Gmail. This should resolve the problems recently experienced by Gmail Filesystem users. The most recent version of libgmail from CVS is required for Gmail Filesystem to operate correctly.

I have received reports that the formatting of Gmail page data has changed and is preventing Gmail Filesystem from working. A libgmail update may be required. I'll investigate this further as soon as I have the time.

Released version 0.3. This release adds some important bug fixes as well as introducing some new features. See the ChangeLog file for details. In Summary:- Several bugfixes from myself and Klaus Ethgen <Klaus from host Ethgen.de>
- External config file support , HTTPS proxy support and more bugfixes, all thanks to Suren A. Chilingarian <csa from host dside.dyndns.org>
- Reduced verbosity of message meta-data and allowed possibility of getting all meta-data from message summary. This change is important as it is the first step in dramatically reducing latency for the Gmail Filesystem as well as decreasing load on the Gmail servers. However further changes are required before these benefits can be realized. Thanks to Scott Worley <sworley from host chkno.net>

I found some time to investigate the previously mentioned upload failures. It had nothing to do with libgmail. Google added some extra validation of the To: field in composed messages. You are now required to append @gmail.com when sending to gmail users which GMail Filesystem did not do. To workaround this problem add @gmail.com to the Gmail Filesystem username you are using, i.e. fred.nerks@gmail.com instead of fred.nerks.

GmailFS has stopped working for file uploads. You are still able to read existing files on your filesystems. I'll update here if and when this problem is resolved. Google has made some improvements to their interface and libgmail will probably need to be updated to co-operate with the new changes.
